Held annually, the UConn School of Engineering Career Fair is host to many engineering firms who are looking for young talented professionals. This is a great event for students and recent grads to bring their resumes and speak with industry professionals about possible internship and employment opportunities. Colleen Jost, PE and Tyler Brett, EIT were excited to share the benefits of working for GM2 while looking for the best and the brightest.

  • Hero Boxes for the Troops

February 20th, 2020 by Dan Brown

Hero Boxes  is Shipping now for a Spring Delivery!

In mid November of 2019, GM2 teamed up with Karen Cote, founder of Hero Boxes in Berlin, CT to help sponsor her effort of supplying troops over seas with essential items needed in the field. Items such as socks, soap, baby wipes and non perishable snacks were collected and donated early February of 2020 to help supplement the nearly 400 box delivery she had planned for Spring. In addition, over $800 was given to Karen's Organization to be used to purchase extra items and help pay for shipping costs. GM2 is honored to be able to help Karen and will continue to do so.

Karen along with a community of volunteers are motivated to get these boxes out to our men and women in the armed forces who are sometimes forgotten about in the main stream media. This is an effort that GM2 can really get behind because it is a thankless responsibility that Karen and her team have undertaken. Hero Boxes started with a need for that home connection through a care package. It all started when Karen's son was deployed to Kuwait in 2015. He asked for a box of items and she decided that the whole unit could benefit from receiving a care box. Since then she has been dedicating her time to keep a steady stream of packages going to different units in need of a moral boost. • Oxford Street Bridge

December 4th, 2019 by Dan Brown

I-95 over Oxford Street / Providence, RI

With Construction completed 6 months ahead of schedule, the Oxford Street Section of I-95 located in Providence, RI  is a great engineering achievement for GM2. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the coordination efforts of all the teaming partners involved. The nine-lane bridge carrying I-95 did however come with many challenges including limited work areas, schedule limitations, and traffic control restrictions. To accomplish the work with all of these restraints; the design team employed Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques. These techniques helped to reduce the construction timeframe, minimize risk, and mitigate impacts to both the environment and the vehicles traveling along this route. From start to finish, careful planning and skillful maneuvering were the key elements contributing to the success of this project. GM2 proudly acknowledges our staff and all of the teaming partners for their dedication on the Oxford Street Bridge: J.H. White Contracting Company (Contractor), Terracon Inc. (Geotechnical), PAL (Cultural Resources), Horsley Whitten Inc. (Permitting), VN Engineers Inc. (Traffic and Illumination), Rhode Island Department of Transportation (Owner), and Louis Berger Inc. (Owner’s Rep)

    2019 CSCE ACE Award

GM2's Bassett Road Bridge over I-91 project in North Haven, CT was awarded the 2019 ACE Award under the Structural Category. This project is unique because of the combination of challenging elements holistically converging together and resulting in a significant positive impact on the community. To the best of our knowledge, this bridge is the largest 100% Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) that has been designed and constructed.
