From the reconstruction and replacement of transportation facilities within the country’s oldest infrastructure to the construction of new intermodal facilities and school facilities, GM2’s structural engineers support the continued maintenance and growth of our built landscape.
With structural engineering as our backbone, GM2’s depth of services includes the inspection and design of new and replacement/rehabilitated structures. From simple- to continuous-span bridges and complex, curved steel, highway structures GM2’s structural engineers have successfully pioneered several ‘firsts’ in New England. Including the first fully precast integral abutment bridge, in Buckland, MA, utilizing 100% prefabricated integral abutments and NEXT beams; a two-span Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) bridge utilizing a common abutment, Bassett Road over I-91, North Haven, CT; a semi-integral bridge, in Saugatuck Island in Westport, CT, that utilizes permanent sheet piling as the foundation as well as a seawall to protect the bridge against storm surges; and the Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) repairs of deteriorated beam ends in consultation with the University of Connecticut and CTDOT.
GM2’s structural staff consists of licensed professional engineers and NBIS certified inspectors.
