Bridge Construction Inspector

GM2 is a private consulting firm with a highly-specialized bridge design, management, and construction engineering and inspection team. GM2's bridge team is comprised of individuals who have designed and delivered some of the country's most iconic bridges. Our Groton, CT Field Office is seeking a Bridge Inspector to support construction activities on the I-95 Gold Star Bridge Rehabilitation Project. A successful candidate will have knowledge of CTDOT Construction Specifications and considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures. In this role you will perform construction inspection, materials sampling & testing and administrative activities to ensre compliance with CTDOT requirements and the projects' construction documents. Additionally, a successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in future construction engineering and inspections services on someof the most significant bridge projects in the U.S. Typical projects will include signature segmental concrete bridge, long span steel bridges and cable stayed bridges.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Coordinate with contractors' staff, communicating effectively with all parties, and utilize good interpersonal skills. Verify the implementation of contract documents.  Produce thorough inspection reports and maintain detailed field and office records of work performed.  Prepare and monitor internal GM2 project controls for field personnel. Proactively recognize complex construction or engienering problems and bring resolution with contractor. Produce and maintain punch lists. Apply standard testing techniques and procedures for the verification of materials.  Basic Qualifications: NICET Level II (National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technology) in Transportation/Highway Construction is required, except for those persons with a four-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. A minimum of two years of employment in civil, highway or appropriate engineering field, of which one year shall be in field inspection activities.  Familiarity with CTDOT Site Manager, field documentation and record procedures is preferred. Able to read and interpret complex plans, specifications, and shop drawings.  Proficiency in MicroSoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel and Word.  Able to work at heights, in confied spaces and marine environments. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle report.  Able to lift a minimum of 25lbs. Sufficiently fit to traverse stair towers on multiple occasions over the course of the workday. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work a shift schedule and/or flexible schedule as required to support the workload. Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented environment. CEI Senior Project Administrator/Project Engineer (Bridge & Highway)

Location(s): Tampa, FL/Wellington, FL Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer for Bridge & Highway to join our team in Tampa/Wellington, Florida (in-office). This full-time position is ideal for someone with 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering or construction management, specifically in major road or bridge projects. As a Project Engineer, you will support project teams by interpreting construction drawings, performing material takeoffs, coordinating work groups, and maintaining project documentation. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are key to the successful completion of FDOT projects. The ideal candidate will be familiar with FDOT standards and procedures and have experience in work plan preparation, schedule coordination, and overall construction management. CEI Senior Project Engineer/Resident Engineer (Bridge & Highway)

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing multi-million-dollar construction projects, ensuring their successful delivery. You will act as the primary liaison between contractors and the Client/Owner, representing the Owner on FDOT projects. This position requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and extensive experience in construction engineering and inspection (CEI). Construction Inspector

GM2 is seeking construction inspectors with any level of experience to provide field and office work out of GM2’s headquarters in Glastonbury, CT on transportation and infrastructure development projects. The successful candidate must have a EIT/FE license, PE license, OR an NICET II certification or higher. An understanding of the CTDOT construction process is preferred and a working knowledge of record keeping including DWRs, CON-40, etc. and Site Manger experience, is desired. Responsibilities Monitoring construction activities at a variety of job sites in field locations in the greater Connecticut area. Consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, and project managers in regards to plans, specifications, equipment, materials, and methods/practices involved in construction. Assisting resident engineers and other construction engineers/inspectors with a variety of related tasks. Requirements  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer and mathematical skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to maintain field and office records and perform quantity and engineering computations. The ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
