Senior Environmental / Wetland Scientist
Position Overview: GM2 Associates, Inc., is seeking a Senior Environmental / Wetland Scientist to support projects across our MA, CT, RI, and NH offices. This role involves preparing environmental documentation, leading wetland and ecological fieldwork and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will drive complex permitting efforts, evaluate environmental impacts, and build strong client and agency relationships while contributing directly to business growth. Key Responsibilities: Preparation of environmental documents, reports and permit applications including NEPA documents and state and federal environmental permit applications. Perform field work, including wetland delineation and functional assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, invasive plant surveys, and environmental monitoring during construction. Review project plans to evaluate environmental impacts. Coordinate with clients and natural resource agencies, present projects at public meetings and represent the company to external stakeholders. Perform business development tasks and maintain client relationships to grow the environmental division by driving key strategic initiatives Requires travel to field sites and project-based requests throughout New England Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field Experience – 15 years’ experience in wetland delineation, natural resource surveys, and / or environmental permitting. Experience in plant identification and/or wildlife surveys is also a plus. Licenses & Certifications – Professional Wetland Scientist Licensure, preferred. Professional Member of the Society of Soil Scientists of Southern New England, or Certified Professional Soil Scientist by the Soil Science Society of America to serve CT requirements. Technical Skills & Knowledge – Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., NEPA, MEPA, Chapter 91, Wetlands Protection Act, Section 404 & 401). Microsoft Office, ArcGIS (preferred), AutoCAD/MicroStation Project & Client Management – Ability to prepare technical reports, communicate effectively both internal and external with key stakeholders and clients. Adaptability to work in various environmental conditions in the field. Leadership –Willingness to grow professionally, and grow the business through key strategic relationships, additional certifications to support company growth.
