RZ Design Associates, a GM2 company, is seeking electrical engineers who will be responsible for the development of electrical system construction documents, including both drawings and specifications, for various projects throughout New England and Florida from schematic design through construction administration. This position is available for our Rocky Hill, CT office or our Tampa, FL office.

Responsibilities

  • Studies and investigations of electrical systems, field investigations, and client interface.
  • Performing field work, including documentation and drafting tasks as needed to produce contract documents.
  • Interface with clients and assist in business development efforts as needed.
  • Maintain and utilize up-to-date working knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications, including but not limited to Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, reports, and documentation detailing electrical systems
  • Work independently on analyzing all aspects involved in the project, with respect to the design project's electrical systems, utilizing professional and specialized knowledge for various facilities including but not limited to retail, commercial, office buildings, and housing
  • In engineering, particularly in the areas of power systems, electrical and electronic circuits, engineering mechanics and electrical distribution systems, to ensure that the designed structure/project are in line with clients' requirements, within budget and on schedule
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines/companies
  • Review existing conditions survey and documentation including photographs, measurements, compiling existing drawings, and preparing base drawings
  • Ensuring code compliance for applicable codes
  • Documenting electrical calculations for sizing equipment, conductors, and conduit
  • Performing product research and documenting function and code compliance
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
  • Perform initial field investigation and construction inspection to support the Construction Administrator (if necessary)
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings
  • Perform related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience preferred, minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering design software
  • Proven interest in working in the field of electrical systems
  • State of Florida PE License or New England state PE License highly desired
  • MEP design firm related experience
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects
  • Valid driver's license.
