GM2, contracted by Burns & McDonnell, provided ground survey support to assist in replacement/upgrading of PSEG-LI facilities from the East Garden City Substation and nearby facilities located on the US Post Office Facility, to the East. Detailed topographic survey was created to act as the base mapping in order to produce the design/construction documents. Of note, there were two possible routes for the new infrastructure line; the route selected for survey followed an existing Long Island Railroad (LIRR) right-of-way. A significant challenge with this route was the substantial construction and railroad debris scattered throughout the area. The debris was difficult to work around and troublesome in accurately locating and developing the most advantageous path for work.

Upon completion of the original ground survey phase, GM2 was brought back to locate and map various structures at the East Garden City Substation. This scope of work included mapping the extensive underground utilities running through the facility.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) purchased a fleet of new Flyer Xcelsior Charge XE40 electric buses which are scheduled to be delivered mid-2022. The existing RIPTA end-of-line Bus Turnaround Facility located in Cranston, RI is being upgraded to an In-Line Electric Bus Charging Facility. GM2 is providing detailed design, permitting, and construction documents as part of the Design/Build team.

The new facility will include:

• 4 Pantograph style fast battery chargers
• Resilient site design with onsite backup power generation
• Utility building with driver rest facilities
• Upgraded interconnection with National Grid Electric & Gas Distribution assets
• The Base Technical Concept was furnished by Owners Engineer

Provided land surveying and engineering design services for the construction of large, ground-based photovoltaic solar array and associated infrastructure at the site of a former golf driving range in Ashland and off Willow Avenue in Haverhill.

The Ashland project involved the design of erosion control measures to protect resource areas from contamination during construction. The Scope included preparation of a Stormwater Analysis/Operation and Maintenance report and instituted low-impact development stormwater management measures - including grassed swales and rain gardens - to mitigate off-site flows and allow for groundwater recharge. Site grading and access road design were included. Additionally, a Notice of Intent and Site Plan Review applications was filed.

In Haverhill, Lodestar Energy was teamed with to provide a conceptual layout for the solar photovoltaic panel layout, site access and accessory structures supporting the facility. This conceptual-level design confirmed that the solar array could be accommodated on the site, given the wetland and slope constraints. GM2 also assisted with permitting for the site, which consists of 113.61 acres with access from Presidential Drive. The design maintained 25 acres of clearing and kept panels out of the 100-foot wetland buffer line.
