The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) purchased a fleet of new Flyer Xcelsior Charge XE40 electric buses which are scheduled to be delivered mid-2022. The existing RIPTA end-of-line Bus Turnaround Facility located in Cranston, RI is being upgraded to an In-Line Electric Bus Charging Facility. GM2 is providing detailed design, permitting, and construction documents as part of the Design/Build team.

The new facility will include:

  • 4 Pantograph style fast battery chargers
  • Resilient site design with onsite backup power generation
  • Utility building with driver rest facilities
  • Upgraded interconnection with National Grid Electric & Gas Distribution assets
  • The Base Technical Concept was furnished by Owners Engineer
