The $51M I-95 Northbound Structure project focuses on strengthening the superstructure on the truss approach spans.
Activities occurring along with the strengthening operations include the removal and replacement of rivets with high strength bolts (Approximately 135,000 each) as well as abrasive blast cleaning and re-painting of the steel members adjacent to the strengthening locations.
The completed $38M I-95 Southbound Structure project consisted of Structure Class S repairs, Abrasive Blast Cleaning and Coating of Beam Ends, Steel Repairs, Localized Paint Removal, Bearing Replacements, Bolt Replacements, Weld Repairs, and Joint Replacements. The improvements also included removing and replacing the existing deck membrane and roadway asphalt surfacing.
