GM2 has been retained by the CTDOT to provide owner’s representative services for a project consisting of the resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation, and operational and safety improvements on I-95 in  Stamford. GM2 will ensure the contractor, and selected design consultant, deliver the engineering and construction services on track and to the client’s expectations throughout final design and construction. GM2 will manage every phase of this complex project on behalf of the client. Responsibilities include the creation of the 30% Base Technical Concept plans and Technical Provisions as well as preparing the RFP/RFQ required for the selection process. GM2 will also be responsible for obtaining all permits and rights-of-way required for this project.  

With average daily traffic volumes of 140,000 vehicles, this section of I-95 experiences high congestion and high crash volumes. A key goal of this project is to implement congestion reduction improvements as part of the long-term congestion reduction strategy for I-95 in southwest Connecticut. This work includes a new I-95 southbound auxiliary lane between Exit 7 and Exit 6. GM2 performed traffic operational analysis and simulations to evaluate the existing and proposed freeway merge, diverge, weaving, and interchange ramp terminal operations using HCS, SYNCHRO and SIMTRAFFIC software.

The project also consists of comprehensive structural pavement rehabilitation to extend the service life and restore functionality of I-95. The underlying concrete pavement is 60 years old is reaching its serviceable life. Pavement joint rehabilitation and replacement of concrete slabs are required. The project includes improvements to two interchanges, installation of noise walls, installation of an Incident Management System and upgrades to the existing drainage and lighting.
