GM2 completed the replacement of West Natick Road Bridge No. 820 and the rehabilitation of Warwick Mall Bridge No. 821 under RIDOT’s 2018 On-Call Bridge Design Consultant Contract. For both bridges, GM2 prepared Bridge Type Study/Bridge Evaluation reports, hazardous materials investigations, environmental documentation, utility investigation and coordination, final design documents, and advertising documents.

Replacement of West Natick Road Bridge No. 820. This bridge replacement project involved the complete replacement of the entire bridge superstructure and substructure, while re-using the existing h-piles. Work included installing a temporary utility bridge for a temporary gas line, complete demolition of the original bridge, completely new concrete abutments and end posts, new steel beams with precast modular concrete deck sections, cast-in-place deck closure pours, new sidewalk, safety walk, parapets, and aluminum bar rail. In addition to all of the bridge work, GM2 also designed the new repaved approaches with bituminous pavement and new guardrail at all four corners of the gas line. The design of the new bridge is similar to the original bridge with some changes to the pavement support.

Rehabilitation of Warwick Mall Bridge No. 821. This bridge rehabilitation project involved removing the pavement and the waterproofing from the entire bridge, performing deck repairs, extending the deck over the backwall at each abutment, installing new waterproofing and pavement, performing concrete and FRP repairs to the precast beams, and concrete repairs to substructure elements.
